"I've used other brands of luggage lock and after a few international trips they literally disappear: after one trip I found one dangling off the zip on my luggage with only half the cable still attached to the lock (credit to B&R that a lock can break off but the zipper remain intact!). I think other brand locks have cables that are just too long, allowing them to swing around and get snagged on other luggage and conveyor belts. If it's only securing the zipper the cable should be made as short as possible, and that's exactly what B&R have done here."

Not as good as the old ones

"The cable on my old Briggs & Riley lock broke after many years of regular use. I bought new locks from B&R and the new ones are frustrating to use. They’re made with a shiny metallic finish that reflects light if there’s any glare at all. Along with that the numbers are hard to read as there is minimal contrast between the ink used for the letters and the metallic finish. I may need to replace them entirely."

Briggs & Riley TSA Combination Lock Failures

"I've had 2 Briggs & Riley TSA combination locks fail in the past 12 months. I probably shouldn't complain as both were over 10 years old and in use for a number of trips. However, one lock failed to open for a time while going through a Customs inspection. I struggled with the lock for a number of minutes and finally got it to open. It was a stressful experience. I ensured that I disposed of the faulty lock so it wouldn't happen again and bought a new one (Briggs & Riley). Now, I have another lock that is being a bit stubborn. Today I purchased a brand new Briggs & Riley Model ACC-W14-4. It appears to be more sturdy and better quality than the older versions. Time will tell. . . ."
